Lush moisturizers review!

Published On 22 april 2013 | By Rox H. | Skincare

Throughout the year the needs of your skin change. When I was a teenager, I started with putting body lotion on my face after showering.. (yeah, really..) But as I grew older I came to the smart realization that I needed something exclusively for my face, so I started putting on a Nivea day cream, which pretty much didn’t do a lot helping out my sensitive skin. Today I am a BIG lover of the Lush moisturizers, which helped my skin out a lot! When I came to work at Lush my skin was troubled, confused and annoyed. (I don’t know any better way to describe it, lol) I had the luck that working there meant I had to try out every single product, (which wasn’t all that pleasant all the time, though) so that meant taking a bunch of samples home and trying everything out. The first things I wanted to try were obviously the moisturizers.. I tried everything out and came to the conclusion my skin isn’t in fact as ‘sensitive’ as I had thought all those years, but I was simply using the wrong products and wasn’t changing them throughout the seasons. I now am proud to introduce you to my three (YES THREE) personal favorite moisturizers! *drumroll*

Let’s start in chronological order: from winter through fall!
_MG_0567‘Skin’s Shangri-La’ (£27.50/$49,95/€47,75 – 45 gr.) what does Lush say about this moisturizer?

“Skin’s Shangri-La is our heaviest moisturizer for everyone who considers their skin ‘mature’. Rejuvenate with jojoba oil, soothing aloe vera extract and our (not so) secret ingredient; Queen of Hungary water. Queen of Hungary water is a mixture of water, vodka and rosemary known to tighten and firm fine lines. With 27 shots of vodka in every batch of Skin’s Shangri-La, it hardly seems like the mature choice-but trust us and treat your skin to our nutrient rich mixture.”

Queen of Hungary Water, Cold Pressed Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Cold Pressed Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Fresh Wheatgrass Decoction (Triticum vulgare), Toothed Wrack Seaweed (Fucus serratus), Aloe Vera Gel (Aloe barbadensis), Glycerine, Stearic Acid, Fair Trade Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Cetearyl Alcohol, Cold Pressed Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera biennis), Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera), Cold Pressed Wheatgerm Oil (Triticum vulgare), Beeswax (Cera alba), Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Violet Leaf Absolute (Viola odorata), Lanolin, Triethanolamine, *Benzyl Salicylate, *Geraniol, *Benzyl Benzoate, *Farnesol, *Linalool, Perfume, Propylparaben.

Skin types which are perfect for this cream:

  • mature
  • dry
  • normal

_MG_0569Skin’s Shangri-La is the moisturizer I use during winter. It is a rich, soft cream which doesn’t feel greasy and gets into your skin really quickly. I don’t have ‘mature’ skin, but still use this cream to try and slow down the years that are coming.. Sigh.

_MG_0573‘Vanishing Cream’ (£17.50/$42,95/€27,40 – 45 gr.) what does Lush say about this moisturizer?

“We’re about to tell you something that might sound contradictory. If you have oily skin, you need to moisturize your face! It all comes down to skin care basics; if your face is oily, it’s compensating for something. Set things right with Vanishing Cream. Our lightest blend, Vanishing Cream contains balancing lavender absolute, pore-tightening witch hazel (which helps brilliantly with eliminating blemishes) and grape seed oil to soften. Use daily to balance oil production for even, clear skin.”

Linseed Infusion (Linum usitatissimum), Water (Aqua), Rose Water (Rosa centifolia), Lavender Honey Water (Lavandula augustifolia), Organic Grapeseed Oil (Vitis vinifera), Honey (Mel) ,Stearic Acid, Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Witch Hazel Extract (Hamamelis virginiana), Fair Trade Organic Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), Cetearyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Camella Oil (Camella japonita), Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia), Neroli Oil (Citrus amara), Geranium Oil (Pelargonium graveolens), Glycerine, Tincture of Benzoin (Styrax benzoin), *Geraniol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Skin types which are perfect for this cream:

  • oily
  • normal
  • sensitive

_MG_0577This is the moisturizer I use during spring and fall. My skin doesn’t need a lot of moisture during these seasons and this light, balancing cream works like a charm for me!

_MG_0578 ‘British Nanny’ (£25.95/€51,85 – 45 gr.) what does Lush say about this moisturizer?

“Who said we don’t need a nanny state?
Don’t give your skin time on the naughty step – take it outside to play!
Like any good nanny, this cream will shield you and protect you from harm, with SPF30 to give some protection from the sun, almond and hibiscus oils to give vitamins C and E. British Nanny has an array of lovely ingredients to moisturise and hydrate, including shea butter, almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, starflower oil, hibiscus seed oil and candelilla wax. So don’t leave home without it.”

Brunello Lily infusion,Glycerine,Shea Butter,Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate,Organic Cold Pressed Almond Oil,Glyceryl Stearate & PEG-100 Stearate,Cetearyl Alcohol,Organic Coconut Oil,Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane,Organic Jojoba Oil,Organic Cold Pressed Starflower Oil,Hibiscus Seed Oil,Fresh Apple Juice,Lanolin,Everlasting Flower Absolute,Ylang Ylang Oil,Bee Pollen,Candelilla Wax,Phenoxyethanol,Benzyl Alcohol,*Citronellol,*Linalool,Hydroxycitronellal,Perfume.

Skin types which are perfect for this cream:

  • sensitive (light!)
  • dry

_MG_0584British Nanny is my moisturizer for summer. I know to a couple of you think  it may not make sense because of the thickness of this cream, but the sun kinda tends to dry my skin out, and it also has SPF 30, which is perfect for my face during summer!

_MG_0585 As you can see these creams are all totally different from each other, but I am using this combo for almost a year throughout and it works out so well for me! Hardly any breakouts, my skin looks more even, I love it!

The only downside on these products is that they are kinda on the expensive side.. But I have to say you can use these pots for a really long time because you really don’t need that much! I use my last Skin’s Shangri-La for almost 2 winters!

You can buy these products at Lush stores worldwide, or online via the Lush webshop.

Love, Roqs

It’s amazing! It calmed my skin down so much! It’s hard to describe the scent though.. My boyfriend hates it but I love it! It’s a really natural smell. Love it :)
